| background & career prospects The past few decades have been characterized by a fundamental structural change in the field of social pro fes sions. The educational scope, professionalization and qualification requirements have changed considerably due to a different social framework and the increasing complexity of social problems. The effects of divergent lifestyles, a constantly changing workworld, ecological and economic crises and a newly structured welfare state have created new challenges. In addition, the importance of preventive measures as opposed to mere crisis intervention, is i creasingly recognized. Our society needs academically sound and ethically and financially acceptable concepts for dealing with social problems from sociological, psychological, legal, organ izational and economic perspectives. At the same time professional, self-responsible and result-oriented actions in the social field become more and more important. The aim of this study program is to provide a practice-oriented training of potential experts with a problem-conscious and result-oriented approach in the field of both regional and international social work. Graduates will not only be able to identify social problems but also to develop interdisciplinary solutions which are socially compatible, sustainable, effective and efficient. Applications for admission to the Bachelor of Social Work program must be submitted in the form of a standardized application form accompanied by the required documents within the period stipulated. There are 50 places available each year. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places, admission is granted based upon the following criteria.

Coupling progressive teaching methods with intensive mentoring ensures a practical education that offers the support needed to complete this course of studies within the projected time-frame. ‘Theoretical’ and ‘practical’ are not contradictory terms, but as a fusion offer opportunities and challenges for a new form of teaching and learning. |
