- Theoretical basis: retention factor, resolution, theoretical plates, van Deemter, mass transfer, symmetry, peak widening
- Separation principles: IEC, ALC, SEC, NP, RP, HIC, HILIC, IP-RP
- Stationary phases, functional groups, separation mechanisms, eluent composition
- HPLC optimization, troubleshooting and miniaturization
- Optimization of isocratic and gradient separation, micro- and nano-HPLC
- Other separation methods: CE, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, IEF (fundamentals of separation mechanisms and fields of application)
- MS: ionization techniques (ESI, EI, MALDI, APCI, APPI, FAB), mass analyzers (single/triple quadrupole, 2D/3D ion trap, TOF, ICR, hybrids (qTOF, orbitrap)
- Hyphenated techniques: HPLC-MS (industrial application to biomolecules (proteins, DNA))
