Admission process
In just two steps to your desired study program at MCI:
Step 1 - Online application: CV & motivation
A complete online application consists of a CV, a letter of motivation, information on educational background, qualifications, professional career, social achievements and academic as well as professional goals. We would like to know why you are applying to study at MCI.
You may apply for more than one degree program at the same time, provided you can conclusively explain your respective motivations in your letter of motivation.
Step 2 – Online admission interview
In the second step, all applicants will be invited to an online admission interview.
In this interview, we want to get to know you. We are particularly interested in your motivation to study at MCI as well as your professional and personal goals you want to achieve with the help of your studies.
Please include the following documents in your online application:
Cover letter
C.V. / Résumé (typewritten)
Copy of passport or identitiy card (front and back)
Valid passport photo
Certificate from a secondary technical and vocational school or certificate of apprenticeship (if applicable)
Matura certificate / School Leaving Certificate or other certificate of higher education entrance qualification, or most recent certificate available (if applicable)
Evidence of completed higher education entrance examination or relevant vocational qualification (if applicable)
Evidence of professional experience or internships (if applicable)
Evidence of further education (if applicable)
Should you apply for a Master’s program, please also submit:
Bachelor diploma, confirmation of prospective completion of studies or equivalent diploma of a 3-year degree program at a national / international higher education institution
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or diploma certificate (if applicable)
Diploma Supplement (if applicable)
Transcript of records
For master programs held in English: if applicable, proof of the required English language skills (for further information, please visit the respective website)
Note
Applicants are welcome to apply for more than one study program at the same time, as long as a plausible rationale is given.
Applications for English-language degree courses are accepted in English only.
Once all required application documents have been received, the department responsible for your desired course of study will verify the documents and check whether the requirements for admission are met. If all requirements are fulfilled, you will be invited to a personal interview by email. You may interrupt or cancel your application at any time during the application period. If desired, we will save your data, enabling you to continue to apply or reapply later on.
Admission Requirements
In the course of the application process, MCI will verify your documents and check whether the admission requirements of the respective course are met. The following criteria apply:
The program accepts individuals with a higher education entrance qualification (Matura, Abitur, relevant vocational qualification, or other school leaving certificate that allows them to matriculate at a higher education institution and study).
Prospective students are not required to have completed the school leaving examination by the time of application. In the case of admission, the relevant certificate may be handed in later. Please include the most recent certificate in your application.
Applicants without a higher education entrance qualification but with relevant vocational qualifications (e.g. certificate of apprenticeship, advanced technical diploma, or German “Fachhochschulreife”) may be admitted to the study program if they pass additional exams at MCI. The following subjects must be completed:
- German
- English
- Mathematics
A fee of EUR 30,- per subject and examination attempt will be charged. All additional exams take place on site at MCI.
Admission to a Master’s program requires a relevant Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution. Further information can be found on the respective subpages of the Master's program under "Admission".

Upon completion of the admission procedure
Once the admission procedure has been completed, we will assess your results. These will be communicated to you within about two weeks of the conclusion of the application process.
Allocation of study places
Please note that there are several application deadlines for each academic year. After the completion of each application round, the highest ranked applicants will be admitted to their desired course of study.
Applicants who are not among the highest ranked but still performed well in the application process, will be given a place on the waiting list. Should one of the admitted applicants not accept the study place offered to him or her, you will advance on the list, which may take until the first week of the respective semester.
Contract of Study
When a student is accepted, a Contract of Study is concluded, which stipulates the relationship between MCI and the student. At the core of the contract is the definition of the rights and obligations of both parties, e.g.
Teaching of degree courses in accordance with existing legal provisions
Provisions of required basic conditions, resources, teaching staff, etc.
Active contribution to education
Ensuring attendance
Respecting exam regulations
Completion of an internship
Moreover, the Contract of Study contains information and rules regarding academic degree, specializations/elective modules etc., interruption of studies, tuition fees, cancellation of the contract including examples of possible reasons for cancellation, terms and conditions, house rules etc.
Tuition Fee
The tuition fee for beginning students from the EU, EEA, and Switzerland is 363,36 euros per semester. Non-EU students have to pay 7,500 euros tuition per semester in a bachelor’s and master's program.
First Instalment
Upon admission to your course of choice, you will be charged 726.72 euros when having a citizenship in the EU/EEA or Switzerland, and 15,000 euros for a bachelor's and master's program when having a citizenship in other countries.
This amount corresponds to the tuition fees for the first year of study and is to be paid as a first instalment. It will be counted towards your tuition for the first two semesters once you have commenced with your studies.
ÖH Fee (Austrian Students' Union)
Additionally, a membership fee for the Austrian Student Union of 26,20 euros per semester will be charged.
The academic institution is obliged to charge students for students’ union fees in the legally prescribed amount for forwarding to the Österreichische Hochschülerinnen- und Hochschülerschaft (Austrian Students’ Union).
In the event of termination of studies, an application for reimbursement of the students’ union fees can be submitted to the Österreichische Hochschülerinnen- und Hochschülerschaft (Austrian Students’ Union).
