Accommodation through OeAD Print E-mail
International students can book a room in a student dorm via the Austrian Exchange Service (OeAD, short for “Österreichischer Austauschdienst"). For this service the Austrian Exchange Service charges EUR 18 per month of stay. Student dorms will also charge a small administrative fee. In addition, there may be bank transfer fees when you transfer the mandatory deposit to OeAD’s bank account.

Student dorms fill up very fast, especially in the fall semester and single rooms are generally hard to get. We recommend that students apply early.

Rooms in student dorms are available for either a full semester (September 1 or October 1 to February 28 / March 1 to June 30) or a full academic year (September 1 or October 1 to June 30).

Single rooms cost approximately EUR 340, double rooms approximately EUR 270 per person and per month. Room reservations are only valid after the payment of a deposit (currently EUR 750).

After you have applied for a room and paid your deposit, you will get a booking confirmation by email. Once you have received this confirmation, you may still cancel your booking within one week and will get your deposit back without any service charges from OeAD. After that period, your booking is binding. Please apply for a room and pay the deposit early!

OeAD will assign most students to a dormitory of the WIST association (Wirtschaftshilfe für Studenten). This association runs several dormitories across Innsbruck, and you can indicate to which of these dormitories you would like to be assigned. If you come to Innsbruck before October 1 or March 1, you should contact the WIST office in advance. Rooms ar usually available as of that date, but if the WIST has spare rooms you may be able to move in earlier. If you need a dorm room from September 1 onwards (rather than from October 1 onwards), please book your room by June 15.
