The TOEFL test opens more doors than any other academic English test. More than 6,000 institutions and agencies in 110 countries rely on TOEFL scores to select students with the English skills needed to succeed. Where can I take the internet-based TOEFL test? Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) is a Certified Test Administration Site for the TOEFL Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT). The TOEFL Internet-based Test evaluates all four language skills that are important for effective communication: speaking, listening, reading, and writing and lasts approximately 4,5 hours. Our full address: MCI Management Center Innsbruck Universitaetsstrasse 15a 6020 Innsbruck. Test takers report to the info-desk on the first floor of the MCI building, Universitätsstrasse 15. Directions are available at www.mci.edu/com/campus. When can I take the test? At Management Center Innsbruck, the next tests will take place on: 2013: March 8, April 12, May 17, June 14 Please check on http://www.ets.org/toefl if registering is already possible. Where can I register for the test? Test takers can register at www.ets.org/toefl only. Please note that you can NOT register with MCI. What is the fee for taking the test? The fee for IBT is US$ 240 (as of December 2011). Why is there a ‘new’ (internet based) TOEFL test? The new TOEFL test will better measure what colleges and universities need to know: a student’s ability to use English in an academic setting. The new speaking section and an emphasis on communicative competence evaluates a person’s ability to use spoken English, and the new integrated Writing and Speaking tasks measure the ability to combine information from more than one source and communicate about it. How can I prepare? Practice tests and sample questions are available at www.ets.org/toeflpractice. You can also take a tour of the TOEFL iBT. Further preparation material can be purchased from ETS Europe. Once you have registered for the TOEFL iBT, you can take a full sample test within your profile. What are the overall scores? The score scale for the iBT is: Listening 0-30 Reading 0-30 Speaking 0-30 Writing 0-30 Total score 0-120 The total score is the sum of the four skill scores. How will the Writing Section be scored? The two tasks will be rated from 0 to 5 and the sum of these scores will be converted to a scaled of 0 to 30. Human scorers will rate the responses. Scoring guides and sample responses for both the Writing and the Speaking sections are available at www.ets.org/toefl. How will the new Speaking Section be scored? Each of the six tasks will be rated from 0 to 4 and the sum of these scores will be converted to a scaled score of 0 to 30. Human scorers will rate the responses. Which score do I need to get into the university I want? Requested TOEFL Scores vary between institutions. Please check with your prospective partner university to find out about their requested TOEFL score. When will I get my scores? Scores are reported online fifteen business days after the test. Test takers are able to view the scores online. Contact at MCI: Mag.
