Managers and junior management staff who are generally proficient in English, but still feel the need to increase their word power
in order to act more effectively in international work situations.

Your benefit

This seminar develops the participants‘ communicative-rhetorical competence in English, and helps them to become more efficient
presenters in that language (and, by transfer, also in other languages). It improves especially the ability to use English adequately in
a given situation, thus helping to gain greater confidence in an international work environment.

  • Differences between writing and speech
  • Playing with different levels of formality
  • Adapting to dialects: British English and American English
  • Using rhetorical devices: chunking, stress, pacing, focusing, softening, tripling, machine gunning, build-ups, knock-downs
  • Vocabulary expansion techniques
  • Presentation techniques
  • Video analyses of exemplary, authentic speeches and presentations

Referent / trainer

Dr. Paul Skandera
Dr. Paul Skandera is professor of Business English at MCI. For many years he has been regular guest lecturer at many renowned
higher education institutions across the German-speaking region. He teaches and trains a wide range of subjects all related to the
English language, including presentation, meeting facilitation, negotiation, and effective writing.
