Nonprofit, Social & Health Care Management Supplying Industry (the entrepreneurial dimension): trade and industry, innovation and services in health care Connecting Care (the health care dimension): development of multidisciplinary care and an uninterrupted continuum of care Integrated Care (the social dimension): networking social and health facilities in terms of organization and content Cross-border care (the international dimension): the movement of people and health services across borders; cross-border care and cross-border mobility of health services Social Work System theories in social work as the contribution of social science to the description, explanation and solution of social problems History of social work: the past, present and future of social work in the Tyrol and Austria seen against the background of socio-economic predictions for the next big wave in the world economy (6th Kondratiev wave of psychosocial health and competence) Tourism & Leisure Economy Entrepreneurship: Strategic management; SMEs in tourism; management competence; training and continuous education in tourism Destinations: Destination management; benchmarking; the tourism economy; sustainable develoment in tourism Tourism marketing: Trends & leisure sociology; customer satisfaction; product development & innovation; branding Environmental, Process- & Energy Engineering Alternative energy engineering: Research in Energy Engineering is devoted to the development and study of new conversion technologies for producing electricity and heat from biomass, for example, as well as key aspects of energy storage and energy transmission. Dedusting technology: Research in Dedusting Technology is devoted to the development and study of new methods for separating dust from gases using a variety of processes such as incineration or exhaust gas cleaning. In addition to conventional filtration, the focus is on the further development of new energy- and space-saving inertial separators like the concurrent flow cyclone. Environmental, Process- & Bio-Engineering Environmental engineering (membrane process) Advanced production methods call for cost-effective and eco-friendly material separation techniques. Modern membrane processes (micro-, ultra-, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis) are used to retain specific substances and – unlike conventional filtration – are effective down to the molecular level. We develop membrane processes for use in the food industry (breweries, dairies), medicine (dialysis), pharmaceuticals (reactive extraction), drinking water supply and waste water treatment. Bioengineering (transgenic microalgae, recombinant cellulases) One focus of research in Bioengineering is the use of transgenic microalgae in the manufacture of high-grade products using the tools of bioinformatics, molecular biology and bioprocess technology. They permit secondary metabolites with relevance for bioengineering, for example, to be identified and subsequently produced in suitable microalgae systems with the help of metabolic engineering. The second focus relates to the generation of transgenic yeast strains and the subsequent production of recombinant cellulases for use in second-generation bioethanol production. Business & Management Generation of successful innovations and sustainable growth in small and medium-sized enterprises. |
