The MCI supports students and graduates with start-ups and other entrepreneurial activities. MCI’s R & D Services provides assistance
with the generation, protection and commercial exploitation of research results and more generally it provides initial information about launching a start-up, about entrepreneurship, and about commercial exploitation of research findings. MCI students and graduates wishing to establish businesses based on academic work can apply to the Center for Academic Spin-offs Tirol (CAST). This joint venture for start-up assistance is backed by the University of Innsbruck, the Innsbruck Medical University, the regional development agency of Tyrol, by the MCI and by the Austrian government.

BRIEF INFORMATION

  • Offering:
    CAST makes the necessary know-how available to students free of charge (project anal-ysis, market analysis, feasibility study, business plan, and patents and other intellectual property rights, etc.)
  • Support:
    Students also receive support in terms of infrastructure (provision of office space, com-puter workstations) and finance (counseling, start-up costs).
  • Advisory services:
    Business-minded students are encouraged to attend the start-up counseling sessions held at the MCI in collaboration with CAST.
