As biotechnology is based on biological principles, bioengineers need in-depth knowledge in a wide range of biosciences including microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry and genetics. Implementation of biotechnological processes on an industrial scale also requires a broad-based competence in process engineering plus specific know-how in such fields as bioprocess engineering, biotechnological processing and analytics. Graduates are able to understand, influence and optimize biotechnological processes, from the genetic basics to the final product. The process engineering focus of the study program is designed to enable graduates to convert laboratory results in the field of biosciences into full-scale industrial processes. |
