International Accreditations, Awards & Memberships
The European Commission awards an international ECTS label to those institutes of higher education which correctly apply the „European Credit Transfer System“. The MCI is a member of the exclusive circle of the rare institutions that have been awarded the label in 2009.
The Diploma Supplement Label is a honorary distinction awarded by the European Commission to those institutes of higher education that not only fulfill the high quality standards of the Bologna process but also practically apply the ‚European Credit Transfer System‘ with a marked quality focus. The MCI is a member of the exclusive circle of the rare institutions that have been awarded the label in 2009.
The “Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation” (FIBAA) is the most important quality assurance and accreditation agency for postgraduate master degree programs in the German-speaking world. Based in Bonn, the agency develops and audits internationally recognized quality standards for postgraduate programs in business and economics. The General Management Executive MBA, the Master of Science in Management MSc, the LL.M. Master of International Business and Tax Law and the master program International Health & Social Management of MCI are all accredited by the FIBAA. The General Management Executive MBA and the Master of Science in Management MSc have been awarded the prestigious Premium Seal (the only ones in Austria). The „European Foundation for Management Development“(EFMD) is an international membership organization, based in Brussels, Belgium. Within Europe, it is the most important quality assurance, accreditation and best-practice platform for research, development, innovation, information and networking in the area of management. THE MCI became an official member of the EFMD in June 2007. AACSB International – The „Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business“ is based in the USA and represents one of the world’s most renowned associations of educational institutions and business schools, businesses and nonprofit organizations. The AACSB audits and accredits both graduate and postgraduate business and management programs. The MCI has been an official member of AACSB International since January 2009. MBA Roundtable is based in the USA and was founded as a non-profit organization in 1995. The 150 members represent the leading business schools and MBA programs and are therefore an important platform for research and knowledge transfer in management education. Quality assurance, program development and continuous adaptation of MBA program content to current societal and economic changes are activly fostered through discussions, publications, conferences and active benchmarking. CAMPUS OF EXCELLENCE is a unique cooperative initiative which is fostered through renowned institutions and associations. Based in Berlin, its primary goal is to bring together companies and young high potentials. Participating companies can make use of the unique opportunity to identify and forge close links with highly talented students as junior staff at an early stage. EURASIA-PACIFIC UNINET is an international network which aims at establishing and fostering contacts and scientific partnerships between Austrian universities, universities of applied sciences and other research institutions and member institutions in East Asia, Central Asia, South Asia and the Pacific region. Munich Network is a networking hub supporting ventures and business start-ups and growth and equity performance in the technology sector. The Munich Network is a connecting link for entrepreneurs and founders, for industry enterprises and service providers, for investors, research institutions and universities. The Munich Network offers a joint platform for members to work on entrepreneurial challenges, share experiences and ideas, build collaborations and motivate each other. The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education is an autonomous organization based in Australia. Its main goal is to foster quality oriented education in the tourism- event- and hospitality sector. The centre audits and accredits high quality tourism programs and provides scholarships and travel grants for international students. The MCI is a fully accredited member and thereby belongs to a select group of universities which have been distinguished for such international recognition for outstanding teaching and research within this field. GE4 is based in France and stands for “Global Education for European Engineers and Entrepreneurs “. Supported by the European industry, the organization and was founded in 1996 by a number of renowned European institutes of higher education. Meanwhile, GE4 is operating globally and has the principal goal of promoting the international mobility of students of engineering sciences and to foster the quality of education in the engineering sector. Based in Frankfurt, the Association of Private Universities (VPH) is in private legal ownership and represents the members’ (universities) interests in the German speaking world. Additionally, the association is an important platform for information. The VPA strives to foster private ownership of universities and a fair regulatory framework for a higher education sector that is marked by an entrepreneurial spirit. The American Chamber of Commerce in Austria was established in Vienna in 1960 as a non-profit organization. The main objective is to promote economic and trade relations between Austria and the United States of America. The Chamber has been a fully accredited member of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America since 1968 and has been affiliated to the European Council of American Chambers of Commerce since 1969.
The Center for Knowledge Management (ZWM) is an international platform for knowledge management in science and research. Its primary goal is to increase innovative strength and international competitiveness of its members. Also, the ZWM is an umbrella to an extended international network of both national and international institutes of higher education.
The International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) is an association of university chief executives from higher education institutions around the world. The primary purpose is to strengthen the international mission and quality of education of these institutions in an increasingly interdependent world, and to promote global awareness and competence as well as peace and international understanding through education.
Founded in 1950, the International Association of Universities (IAU) brings together higher education institutions and organisations from more than 130 countries. IAU provides a global forum to discuss and take action on issues of shared interest and promotes international cooperation and academic solidarity between higher education institutions. Other Memberships / Programs / Partnerships MCI has been awarded the Erasmus University Charter (EUC) in the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) 2007-2013. The Erasmus University Charter (EUC) provides the general framework for all European co-operation activities Management Center Innsbruck may carry out within the Erasmus Programme. The Charter sets out the fundamental principles and the minimum requirements underlying the Erasmus activities a higher education institution has to respect.
The European Forum was founded in August 1945, first as European Higher Education Weeks and since 1955 it is known as European Forum Alpbach. The event brings together personalities of science, economy, culture and politics, with several Nobel laureates among them.
Certified Test Administration Site
MCI is one of only five Certified Test Administration Sites in Austria offering the TOEFL Test. The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Test is a world wide standardized test that measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written and heard in academic settings. Many universities especially in English-speaking areas such as the USA rely on TOEFL scores to select students with the English skills needed to succeed. MCI offers the TOEFL Internet-based Test.
