The 21st century calls for engineers with an interdisciplinary training and problem-solving competence in the fields of health, resources, ecology, nutrition, energy etc. Biotechnology, for example, constitutes one of the key disciplines of the 21st century, with enormous potential for growth and professional development. On the one hand that is due to progress made in biomedical research, leading to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and on the other hand the chemical and pharmaceutical industry is showing a growing interest in biotechnological
processes to reduce the environmental footprint and increase the efficiency of the methods employed.
The bachelor program in Biotechnology is designed to communicate the knowledge, methodological skills and problem-solving competence needed to tackle a very wide range of scientific and engineering problems. With its commitment to bridge-building between the academic and the business worlds, Management Center Innsbruck also provides essential teaching in the increasingly important horizontal disciplines of law and economics, and the skills needed for today’s labor market.
