The City

Viana do Castelo is a town in North Portugal. It has 88,000 inhabitants. The city has a seaport with naval repairing facilities; its major industries are related to naval construction and repair, with the Estaleiros da Viana do Castelo remaining one of the few large shipyards still in operation.

The University

The Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo) is a state-run polytechnic institute of higher education in Portugal. Its five schools are located in several cities of the Viana do Castelo district in Portugal. It was established in 16 August 1980.
