The City


Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey with a population of 12.6 million. It is the cultural and financial center of Turkey. Located on the Bosphorus Strait it encompasses the natural harbor known as the Golden Horn, in the northwest of the country. It extends both on the Europe (Thrace) and on the Asia (Anatolia) side of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world that is situated on two continents. The city was chosen as joint European Capital of Culture for 2010.

The University


Sabancı University (Turkish: Sabancı Üniversitesi) was established in 1996 and is located on a 1.26 million squaremeter campus which is about 40 km from Istanbul's city center. It is home to 3 Faculties including 13 undergraduate and 46 postgraduate as well as 15 doctoral programs. Sabanci University is ranked among Turkey's top universities.
