Intercultural Competence

The course discusses the essential features of intercultural communication and interaction and serves as preparation for successful interaction abroad but also with people of other cultural backgrounds in the home country. In addition to the presentation of theoretical concepts for the analysis and explanation of intercultural differences and their consequences for personal interaction and communication, the handling of foreign cultures will be practiced and personally experienced through intercultural action training in role plays and case studies. Further topics are the practical handling of intercultural disturbances, culture shock, conflict resolution strategies, metacommunication and active listening, feedback rules.
