  • Major aim of this course is to impart fundamental knowledge about medical information Systems, eHealth and information management from a practical point of view.

    According to this the students will
    get an overview of healthcare in terms of the operational and the organizational structure as a basic knowledge for implementing IT systems and information management
    learn the fundamental principles and practical strategies of health care IT management and how to apply this knowledge in practice and
    strengthen their competence in IT-project management.

    At the end of the course the students should have a comprehensive understanding of the role of information technology related to IT-systems in the healthcare sector. They should be able to
    understand health care processes, associated IT Systems, protocols and the roles of different stakeholder
    outline the role of IT during the different phases of patient treatment processes and the redesign of processes
    structure, to understand and to control IT projects
    aware the critical success factors in large IT project
    explain shared care via extramural communication / eHealth in terms of provider centered view vs. patient centered view
    discuss the need for quality standards and certifications
    describe the health care data and information framework
    distinguish between strategic, tactical and operational information management
    understand the need for, and the structure of a strategic information management plan

    In terms of self leadership the self-leadership part of this course builds on the introductory course of the first semester with the aim to strengthen self leadership competencies.

    At the end of the course the students should be able to:
    be aware of the importance of non verbal communication
    create positive thought patterns
    stay concentrated even under tough conditions
    reflect body and mind control
    apply selected leadership competencies

    In the self-leadership part of the course the students continue working on the following selected self leadership and team player competencies:

    Please be aware that this course requires high level of proficiency in English language. All local students have passed an English language test with at least 90 TOEFL points (internet based) or comparable tests.
