Wahlpflichtfach II "Socially Engaged Research: Thinking Through Positions & Situations"

  • One of the probably most disputable questions regarding socially dedicated research is whether it can be objective or must be subjective. Apart from the fact that often uncritically used attributes such as "objective" or "subjective" bring with them a lot of problems of scientific theory and are perhaps not as clear as is often thought, there are also alternatives to learn to think complex relations between researchers and those being investigated, including terms such as "position" and "situation". Within the framework of this blocked seminar, various theories, methods and practices of socially dedicated research are to be discussed together with the students, which illustrate what it can mean to become scientifically active by dealing with areas of social tension.
