The City


Sendai is the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, the largest city in the Tohoku region, and the second largest city north of Tokyo. The city has a population of approx. 1,086,000 inhabitants. The city's geography is quite diverse, from plain areas in the East to volcanic mountains in the West.

The University


Tohoku University, located in Sendai in the Tohoku Region, is a Japanese national university. It is considered one of the most prestigious universities in Japan and comprises 10 Faculties: Arts and Letters, Education, Law, Economics, Science, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering and Agriculture. The university's three core values are "Research First," "Open-Doors" and "Practice-Oriented Research and Education".
