Family businesses represent a significant share of the economic power in the national economies of the German-speaking and international economic area.
Family businesses are the backbone of the domestic economy and differ from non-family businesses above all in their ownership structure, i.e. family businesses are owned by one or more family members who are personally involved in the company to a high degree.

Professor Hennerkes has been dealing exclusively with this type of company for over 40 years. He is therefore regarded as one of the leading experts in the field of family businesses and established the Family Business Foundation in 2002.
