"Innsbruck meets Berlin" - Under this sympathetic motto the German Circle of Friends of the Universities of Innsbruck Association (DFK) together with the Austrian Ambassador in Berlin, Peter Huber, invited graduates of the Innsbruck universities and the MCI to a joint meeting. The event was held at the Austrian embassy building in the heart of the German capital, which was designed by the legendary Austrian architect Hans Hollein in 2001.

"Despite the challenges posed by the corona, it was possible to realize one of the DFK's core concerns - building a bridge between the two countries, between science and business, between the three universities and between students and alumni," said DFK Honorary Chairman Senator Michael Pega, delighted with the successful event.

The aim of the DFK is the idealistic and material support of the three universities and their students, the promotion of partnership and cooperation at the common science location Innsbruck, the networking of their graduates with the economy and the cultivation of the friendly relations of its members.

While in recent years, illustrious names such as Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Vice Chancellor Reinhold Mitterlehner, Federal Minister Karlheinz Töchterle, Federal Minister Hans Jörg Schelling, Tyrolian Governor Günther Platter and well-known business personalities have been welcomed as high-ranking guests, this year the DFK was pleased to welcome the personal visit and witty keynote speech by Norbert Barthle, Parliamentary State Secretary.

The invitation was accepted by high-ranking members, friends and guests of the DFK as well as numerous graduates of the three universities, who were delighted to maintain contact and revive old memories. Due to the large number of registrations, the event had to be divided into two consecutive dates.

The DFK sees its mission fulfilled: to bring together the University of Innsbruck, the Medical University of Innsbruck and the MCI with renowned personalities from science, business and society, to promote neighborly dialogue and encounters and to develop German-Austrian relations.
