Course contents

Sports and active recreation in nature & landscape are essential elements of the alpine tourism and leisure industry. Changes in consumer behaviour, the increasing differentiation of outdoor sports and the trend towards staging experiences have a strong impact on the range of exercise and recreation on offer for locals and guests in the Alpine region. Destinations are also striving to develop individual sports tourism summer offers in addition to the still rather homogeneous winter sports product in order to position themselves as active year-round destinations. Major sporting events often provide the impetus for this. However, the Alpine region used for sport and recreation is not only of interest to the tourism and leisure industry, other stakeholders also have a legitimate claim to its development. Against this background, the course will discuss possibilities and limits of the development of sports tourism in the Alpine region.
