Biological process engineering

Course contents
- Presentation of technically relevant microorganisms and cells, their substrate requirements and development conditions, models of enzyme kinetics, growth kinetics of microorganisms and kinetics of product formation
- Realisation of such requirements by primary tasks (homogenisation, suspension, dispersion, mass and heat transfer) of a bioreactor
- Identification of bioreactors by type, fittings, measurement and control units as well as behaviour over time
- Balance of processes at the bioreactor
- Secondary tasks of a bioreactor (e.g. sterilisation processes) as well as first considerations in terms of scaling up
