Fundamentals of Management
Course contents
  • By the end of this course, students are expected to:

    have a basic understanding of the distinction between management/leadership as a science and an art and the challenges associated with combining the scientific-technical and the artistic way of managing.

    see the role that the two types of management and leadership have, and can have, in the area of health care. In this connection they should have a well-grounded understanding of what is, or is not, unique about health care management and leadership.

    learn about the various managerial techniques and skills that managers use, and what it means to apply them in a customizing, or artistic, way, but not get any practical training.

    acquire a good command of the different parts of the managerial cycle - the upstream part, the leader and manager roles and the content and implementation of managerial decisions in health care - and how they are related.

    Please be aware that this course requires high level of proficiency in English language. All local students have passed an English language test with at least 90 TOEFL points (internet based) or comparable tests.
