Prof. Dr. Jan Back, MSc

Dr. Jan Back is a Senior Lecturer at MCI whose research spans membrane technology, adsorption, and advanced oxidation for sustainable water treatment. He earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Innsbruck in 2021. He leads projects including PFASelect (Interreg) and BorN-To-Degrade (FFG Bridge), with additional roles in PFAS-Trap (KPC Altlastenforschung) and other projects. He has authored or co-authored numerous peer reviewed articles and frequently serves as a reviewer for leading journals. His teaching focuses on chemical environmental engineering with BSc/MSc courses such as Membrane Technology, Water Pollution Control, and Conceptual Process Design.
