Application & Admission

In the course of the application process, MCI will verify your documents and check whether the admission requirements of the respective course are met. The following criteria apply:

The program accepts individuals with a higher education entrance qualification (Matura, Abitur, relevant vocational qualification, or other school leaving certificate that allows them to matriculate at a higher education institution and study).

Prospective students are not required to have completed the school leaving examination by the time of application. In the case of admission, the relevant certificate may be handed in later. Please include the most recent certificate in your application.

Applicants without higher education entrance qualification may be admitted to MCI if they

  • provide proof of relevant vocational training and successfully complete additional examinations at MCI.

Higher education entrance examination

In general, applicants are eligible for admission to study at MCI if they have completed the higher education entrance examination in subjects corresponding to the subjects required by the respective course of study. The higher education entrance examination may be taken, for example, at the University of Innsbruck.

For questions regarding the subjects required for admission to your desired course of study and the higher education entrance examination, please contact us by email at beratung@mci.edu.

Relevant vocational qualification & additional examinations

Applicants with a relevant professional qualification, such as a certificate of apprenticeship, master craftsman certificate, or advanced technical certificate, may be admitted if they successfully complete additional examinations in German, English, Mathematics, and Physics. Applicants without higher education entrance qualification are required to take the additional examinations as part of the MCI admission procedure.

A group of applicants at the admission procedure at MCI

Once all required application documents have been received, the department responsible for your desired course of study will verify the documents and check whether the requirements for admission are met. If all requirements are fulfilled, you will be invited to the written entrance examination and personal interview by email.

You may interrupt or cancel your application at any time during the application period. If desired, we will save your data, enabling you to continue to apply or reapply later on.

Note

Admission process

In just two steps to your desired study program at MCI:

Step 1 - Online application: CV & motivation

A complete online application consists of a CV, a letter of motivation, information on educational background, qualifications, professional career, social achievements and academic as well as professional goals. We would like to know why you are applying to study at MCI.

You may apply for more than one degree program at the same time, provided you can conclusively explain your respective motivations in your letter of motivation.

Step 2 – Online admission interview

In the second step, all applicants will be invited to an online admission interview.

In this interview, we want to get to know you. We are particularly interested in your motivation to study at MCI as well as your professional and personal goals you want to achieve with the help of your studies.

Upon completion of the admission procedure

Once the admission procedure has been completed, we will assess your results. These will be communicated to you within about two weeks of the conclusion of the application process.

  • Allocation of study places
Please note that there are several application deadlines for each academic year. After the completion of each application round, the highest ranked applicants will be admitted to their desired course of study.
Applicants who are not among the highest ranked but still performed well in the application process, will be given a place on the waiting list. Should one of the admitted applicants not accept the study place offered to him or her, you will advance on the list, which may take until the first week of the respective semester.

  • Contract of Study
When a student is accepted, a Contract of Study is concluded, which stipulates the relationship between MCI and the student. At the core of the contract is the definition of the rights and obligations of both parties, e.g.

ο Teaching of degree courses in accordance with existing legal provisions
ο Provisions of required basic conditions, resources, teaching staff, etc.
    ο Active contribution to education
    ο Ensuring attendance
    ο Respecting exam regulations
    ο Completion of an internship

Moreover, the Contract of Study contains information and rules regarding academic degree, specializations/elective modules etc., interruption of studies, tuition fees, cancellation of the contract including examples of possible reasons for cancellation, terms and conditions, house rules etc.
