Requirements for Students

As MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®, it is very important to us to make your studies practice-oriented, digitally supported and reliable. For courses, self-study, digital services and online examinations, students need a suitable personal device.

The following minimum requirements generally apply to all students at MCI. Please note that individual degree programs, especially in technical fields, may have additional or different requirements. In this case, the degree programme-specific requirements are binding and replace the general minimum requirements.

General minimum requirements

  • Device:

    • Laptop/notebook

    • Private device, no company laptop

  • Operating system:

    • Windows, version 10 or higher

    • macOS, version 11 (Big Sur) or higher

  • Browser:

    • Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox

Tablets and smartphones, including iPads, do not meet the minimum requirements as the sole device for studying at MCI.

For students in technical programs, relevant software packages are made available free of charge for use on personal devices. In order to be able to work effectively, a laptop with the system requirements listed in Table 1 is recommended.

Please note that only native Windows machines are supported – other operating systems (e.g., macOS, Linux, virtual Windows under macOS) can lead to significant problems. The listed system requirements are a basic recommendation – depending on specific interests and specializations, the hardware requirements may change during the course of studies (e.g., due to the focus of the final thesis).
