In recognition of his achievements in research and teaching, the exemplary translation of research performance into practice and the associated contributions to the further development of the MCI and, moreover, the higher education sector in general, MCI has recently awarded FH-Prof. Dr. Christoph Engl a professorship.

Christoph Engl began his academic career at the University of Bayreuth and continued his studies in Nice at the renowned EDHEC Business School before completing his doctorate magna cum laude at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU) at the Institute for Strategic Business Management. As a research assistant at the LMU, he already devoted himself to the research focus "strategic corporate management". His dissertation was followed by years of practical experience as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where his focus was laid on industrial goods, automotive and cost & efficiency.

In 2017, MCI appointed him as a lecturer in business administration for the Tourism Department. There, he focuses on the topic of "Entrepreneurship", a topic of particular relevance to the tourism industry, where he can contribute both his extensive research expertise and his practical experience as a consultant at BCG.

Accordingly, Christoph Engl dedicated his inaugural lecture to the topic of "Entrepreneurship" and started with a description of typical entrepreneurial personalities, motives, influencing factors and success factors that turn entrepreneurs into successful business people. In addition, it addressed the need for adaptation and change and introduced six humorous rules on how to achieve complete stagnation of a business. Finally, the findings were transferred to the field of research and the presentation of a current research project.

In the presence of companions, colleagues, students, friends and family, MCI Rector Andreas Altmann presented the certificate of appointment together with Univ.-Prof. FH-Prof. Dr. Franz Pegger, Chair of the Entrepreneurial School® Collegiumand Department Head, FH-Prof. Hubert Siller.
