The current University Comparison carried out by the International Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) once again provides excellent results for the Entrepreneurial School®, which secured 36 places in the top positions with its quality-oriented technical and scientific courses. This corresponds to 60 % of all evaluated quality criteria.

The following degree programs were assessed:

  • Biotechnology & Food Technology
  • Environmental, process and energy technology
  • Mechatronics

The exemplary results of the technical degree programs at MCI show a further improvement over the previous survey three years ago. In particular, the programs score well in the following quality criteria:

  • Ability to study
  • Support in studies
  • Mentoring by lecturers
  • Exams
  • Equipment in lecture rooms and laboratories

Other factors that positively distinguish MCI degree programs are their international orientation, the achievability of degrees within a reasonable period, and the practical immersion in the professional world.

Statements

Günther Platter, Governor of Tyrol: "The results of the current university comparison once again reflect the high quality of training and the well-functioning interaction between economic practice and science in Tyrol. I am proud that we can boast such a prestigious university landscape in our country thus providing the best-educated graduates with strong future prospects."

Bernhard Tilg, Science Councilor and Chairman of the MCI General Assembly: "My warmest congratulations on this excellent achievement of the MCI in the international university comparison. The MCI has never rested on its laurels of being the first institution of higher education in Tyrol. The 'Entrepreneurial School' has been continually developed into an excellent educational institution with a lighthouse function for the Campus Tirol. "

Oswald Wolkenstein, Managing Director of the Industry Division of the Tyrolean Economic Chamber and Chairman of the General MCI Advisory Board: "The MCI is a highly valued partner of the domestic economy and is characterized by excellent teaching and a powerful network with high-level cooperation, practical and research projects. MCI graduates are in high demand from companies. I offer my congratulations on this excellent result at the CHE university comparison!"

For MCI-Rector Andreas Altmann, the current CHE results provide the perfect testimony to the technical and scientific degree programs: "The MCI's strategy of systematically and qualitatively developing and expanding the degree programs in the field of technology and life sciences is impressively validated by these current results”.  Brigitte Auer, Director of MCI Quality Management, adds, "As part of our university development activities, we are pursuing internationally recognized accreditations and undertaking assessments on our own initiative in order to have the quality of our degree programs independently assessed. We are delighted by the fact that our efforts have been so successful".

The CHE university comparison is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking in the German-speaking world and assesses more than 300 universities, schools and colleges including 2,700 departments and 10,000 degree programs. Each year, one third of the subjects are re-evaluated. The institutes who choose to participate in the assessment do so on their own initiative.

All results of the CHE university comparison will be published on www.zeit.de/che-ranking.
