In recognition of her achievements in research and teaching, transfer to business & society, internationalization as well as the further development of the Entrepreneurial School®, the MCI recently awarded Dr. Manske-Wang a professorship.

Born in China, Dr. Manske-Wang began her academic career in linguistics, graduating with honors from East China Normal University in Shanghai with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Studies and Tourism. In Germany, Wei Manske-Wang obtained her academic degree in economics (Department of Business Administration) at the "Honors" program of the Elite Network Bavaria at the University of Regensburg (degree: Master of Science; with Honors).

While working, she continued her doctoral studies at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in Economics, where she received her PhD in the field of Economics with the empirical thesis "Urbanization and Energy Supply of Megacities in China".

For the last 14 years, Dr. Manske-Wang successfully distinguished herself in the German industrial sector. She also focused on her research interests in the field, namely strategy development for marketing and companies, identification of technology trends or innovation potentials and, above all, networking of the German-speaking economic area with the new technology superpower China. Her extraordinary international networking is reflected, among other things, by her guest professorship at Shenzhen Technology University in China and in numerous teaching activities in various renowned German universities such as Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg, University of Tübingen, Technical University of Munich, Technical University of Chemnitz, etc., where she has been teaching part-time since 2015.

In her inaugural lecture, Manske-Wang focuses on the hot topic of 'Belt and Road Initiative' (BRI), also known as "the new Silk Road". She focuses on the time span from the official announcement in 2013 to the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in 2015 and the rapid development into a geopolitical area of tension that stands for infrastructure development in emerging economies, confronting opportunities and risks. In doing so, Manske-Wang pays particular attention to cultural and social aspects of this Chinese century strategy that spans three continents. "With International Business, you build an understanding of the differences but also the common ground of different nations. The theories we learn should enable us to act in a meaningful way to reasonably shape our common future on this earth," Ms. Manske-Wang emphasized at the end of her inaugural lecture. This principle lives on in the China Center at MCI, which was founded in May 2021 and of which Manske-Wang is the director. The China Center is intended to serve as a bridge for economic, political and cultural exchange between Europe & China.

MCI Rector Andreas Altmann presented the certificate of appointment as UAS professor together with the Chairman of the University Board, Univ. Prof. Dr. Franz Pegger, and Head of Department, UAS Prof. Dr. Siegfried Walch, who gave a heartfelt eulogy.
