When I look back at my time at MCI...

I remember an exciting, instructive, exhausting, and fun five years. On a personal level, I particularly remember the friendships and contacts I was able to make during this time. Looking back, a few very committed lecturers at MCI, who encouraged and challenged me beyond the lectures, proved to be extremely important for my professional development.

How did your studies at MCI prepare you for your current job?

Today, as a project engineer at BHS-Sonthofen in the field of recycling technology, I am confronted with a wide variety of topics and problems. We are currently planning and building a plant for the mechanical-thermal recycling of batteries from electric cars. As a trained process engineer, I mainly deal with process topics, the creation of piping and instrument flow diagrams, the selection of field devices, and pipeline planning.

I already had a certain amount of prior knowledge of all this from my studies, which enabled me to familiarize myself with the subject quite quickly. Overall, my studies prepared me ideally for questioning and developing (process) technical solutions.

What would you tell someone who is considering studying at MCI?

If you want to build up a toolbox to understand the (environmental) technologies of tomorrow and today, the Environmental, Process & Energy Engineering degree program at MCI is perfect for that. I myself have already been able to delve deeper into various subject areas as part of my final thesis and my previous professional activities. These include the fourth purification stage in municipal water treatment, CO2 capture from exhaust gas, and now also the recycling of batteries from electric vehicles. With the basic technical education as part of the Environmental, Process & Energy Engineering program, you can quickly find your way around a wide variety of subject areas.

What is your motto?

Keep going until it's good.
