Starting in fall 2025, MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® in Innsbruck will launch its new part-time master’s program Digital Business & Software Engineering. Building on the existing bachelor’s program of the same name, this innovative master’s program combines cutting-edge software development with strong business management expertise. With a blended learning format – featuring online classes and in-person modules – the program offers maximum flexibility, particularly for working professionals.

Focus on Digital Transformation

The program emphasizes the development and analysis of complex software systems, sustainable IT infrastructures, strategic consulting, and project management. Thanks to its close ties to the MCI Research Unit for Digital Transformation, the curriculum integrates the latest academic insights. In addition, students can personalize their studies through elective modules such as Computer Graphics, Intelligent Systems & Robotics, Game & XR Design, or Industrial Computing.

Excellent Career Prospects

The hybrid study format includes weekly online lectures complemented by periodic in-person sessions throughout the program. This structure allows for a flexible, location-independent study experience while fostering meaningful interaction between students and faculty.

Graduates of the new master’s program Digital Business & Software Engineering will be well prepared for leadership roles in the IT sector, as well as in industry, commerce, services, and public institutions. The program also provides an excellent foundation for successful entrepreneurial ventures.

Peter Mirski, CIO at MCI and Head of the new master’s program, emphasizes: “With the Master’s in Digital Business & Software Engineering, we are creating a unique combination of IT expertise and entrepreneurial practice that empowers professionals to actively shape the digital future—across industries, in an innovative and international context.”

Katharina Schäfer, Global Head of University Alliances at SAP and member of the development board for the new master’s program, adds: “Innovative educational formats such as MCI’s new master’s in Digital Business & Software Engineering play a vital role in training the next generation of IT experts and leaders. The integration of business acumen with advanced software engineering provides a hands-on learning environment that prepares students to meet the real-world demands of modern organizations.”
