Date 2025-05-08

Congratulations on her appointment to the German Federal Government

MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® is delighted to announce the appointment of Prof. h.c. Katherina Reiche, Chair of the MCI Advisory Board and recipient of an MCI Honorary Professorship, as Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy in the new German Federal Government.

This prestigious and highly responsible appointment represents a tremendous recognition of an outstanding individual who has accompanied MCI for many years with visionary thinking, tireless commitment, and innovative drive. As a dedicated advisor, mentor, and bridge-builder, Katherina Reiche has made valuable contributions to MCI, initiating lasting impacts in research, teaching, and societal engagement.

MCI Rector Prof. Dr. Andreas Altmann describes the appointment as “a tremendous honor for an extraordinary personality whose expertise, foresight, and determination to shape the future have enriched not only MCI but also international academic and economic discourse. Her new role in Berlin is a logical continuation of her exemplary work – we could not imagine a more qualified person for this important ministerial position.”

In her role as Honorary Professor at the Entrepreneurial School®, Katherina Reiche has already impressed with her in-depth contributions on future-oriented topics such as energy supply, transformation, and interdisciplinarity. In her inaugural lecture titled “Energy: Secure. Clean. Affordable. – Achievable?” she presented a content-rich overview of the challenges of the European energy transition and emphasized the need for bold scientific initiatives and close cooperation between politics, business, and research.

“On behalf of all employees, students, alumni, supporters, partners, and stakeholders of MCI, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Katherina Reiche on this honorable appointment and wish her every success, courage, and vision in addressing the upcoming challenges on both the national and international stage,” said Rector Altmann.

With her appointment as Federal Minister, the German Federal Government gains a prominent voice in shaping the economic and energy future — and MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® is proud to continue counting such a distinguished global leader among its close network.
