MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® in Innsbruck continues its success story: For the academic year starting in fall 2025, the internationally renowned university has recorded more than 5,000 applications for 1,300 available entry-level study places, marking an all-time high.
Following approximately 4,400 applications in the previous year, the renewed increase underscores the strong appeal and growing visibility of the Entrepreneurial School®.
This high demand reflects MCI’s long-standing commitment to offering internationally competitive and quality-driven programs in research, education, and continuing studies across key focus areas:
Applicants cite reputation, global network, strong practical orientation, career prospects, professionalism, and a focus on entrepreneurship as the main reasons for choosing MCI. The only point of criticism remains the limited and outdated infrastructure, which is increasingly being addressed.
New for fall 2025, the first year of several engineering programs can also be completed at MCI’s Campus in Lienz, offering additional flexibility and regional access.
Erstmals ab kommendem Herbst kann das erste Studienjahr für mehrere Technikstudiengänge am Standort Lienz absolviert werden.
Statements:
Oswald Wolkenstein, Chair of the MCI Supervisory Board: "With MCI, Tyrol is home to an Entrepreneurial School® that enjoys international recognition and admiration. The energy and enthusiasm visible in the eyes of young people securing a study place are a powerful sign of hope and confidence for the future. This success must be nurtured and strengthened through the development of a modern university campus. Research, education, innovation, and excellence are the foundations of competitiveness and long-term prosperity."
Brigitte Auer, Head of MCI Quality Management: "Our applicants undergo a demanding, multi-stage admissions process and consciously choose a program known for its intensity, strong practical relevance, and international outlook. The consistently high number of applications confirms the success of our clear quality strategy, which focuses on academic excellence, innovation, internationality, and service quality."
Julian Pfurtscheller, Chair ÖH MCI: "As the official representative of all MCI students, we are pleased by the university's continued strong appeal and high demand. However, this should not obscure the pressing issue of limited space and infrastructural constraints, which must be urgently addressed."
Andreas Altmann, MCI Rector: “Since its founding, MCI has pursued a clear and consistent path. It brings together outstanding individuals, forward-thinking ideas, critical discourse, and innovative solutions – shaping a profile that sets it apart from the mainstream, opens up new perspectives, and creates opportunities for young people around the world."
