Successful Presentation of Fourth Semester Practical Projects

Students develop creative approaches to social challenges

Once again this year, students of the fourth semester in the bachelor’s program Social, Health & Public Management presented the results of their practical projects at the end of the spring semester. As in previous years, the students worked over several months on real-world assignments and developed innovative, practice-oriented solutions for current social challenges.

During a public closing event, the projects were presented and discussed with representatives of the respective partner organizations and an interested audience. The topics ranged from fundraising strategies and volunteer management to concepts for healthcare provision in rural areas. Here is a brief overview of this year’s projects:

Nonprofit Management

  • SMILE4MADAGASKAR
    Topic: Sustainable development through effective fundraising: Which strategies are most effective in supporting long-term development projects in Madagascar?
    Project Supervision: Renate Windbichler
  • State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Counter-Extremism
    Topic: Raising awareness of extremism and radicalization in educational and youth institutions. How can early detection and prevention among young people be achieved, and what role do the police and other stakeholders play?

  • Austrian Space Forum
    Topic: Developing concepts for the sustainable reuse of HABITATS after completed space missions.

  • Sindbad
    Topic: Mentoring for young people: Which target groups are especially important in communication, how can they be reached, and which communication channels and techniques are most effective?

Social Management

  • Stiftung Liebenau, Dominik Fulterer
    Topic: Young professionals in elderly care: Developing measures to enhance the attractiveness of elderly care beyond medical aspects – such as reconciling work and private life and creating innovative work organization models.

    Topic: Concepts for volunteer management: In-depth development and testing of tools for public relations work, volunteer recruitment, role descriptions, and support and supervision measures for volunteers.

    Topic: Self-care and professional boundaries in social work: Strategies for dealing with clients’ challenging life stories, emotional demands, manipulative situations, and maintaining emotional stability.

    Topic: Strategies for successfully recruiting young voluntary course instructors for leisure and educational programs.

Health Care Management

  • Social and Health Care Association Westliches Mittelgebirge
    Topic: Challenges for a healthcare service provider in rural areas: Status quo analysis and development of possible solutions through benchmarking.

    Topic: From waste to resource: Development and implementation of an awareness campaign for employees at tirol kliniken.

  • Insieme Association – Psychological Counseling Center for People in Crisis and Difficult Life Situations
    Topic: Strategy development for the successful acquisition of EU funding for psychological counseling services.

  • City of Innsbruck / Innsbruck Hospital (Emergency Department)
    Topic: Overcrowded emergency departments due to homeless individuals and social hardship cases: Evaluation of alternative solutions, creation of a network map, and development of a communication strategy.

Practical, relevant, and socially impactful — this is how the approach of these projects can be summed up. The close collaboration with external partners enabled students to apply their theoretical knowledge directly in practice and gain valuable insights into the diversity and complexity of social challenges.
