From July 14 to 17, 2026, the European Health Economics Association (EuHEA) Research Conference took place in Rotterdam. The conference is one of the leading international events in the field of health economics and brings together established and early-career researchers from around the world to discuss current developments in the field, strengthen networks, and generate new research ideas. In addition to numerous academic presentations and panels, the conference offered ample opportunities for exchange and networking through its formal and informal side events.
Anouk van Amerongen, a research associate at the MCI Center for Social & Health Innovation (CSHI), presented a research paper at the conference.
Anouk: “For me, the EuHEA conference was very enriching in terms of content. Some presentations were incredibly interesting for my own research on willingness to pay in outpatient care – for example, how insights from behavioral economics (such as prospect theory) can be used to better understand preferences and valuations in the healthcare system.”
The open and welcoming atmosphere of the conference further enriched this professional exchange. The wide range of topics covered at the conference – from fundamental methodological questions to highly applied health policy issues – provided many new perspectives for the further development of the CSHI project.
During the conference, Anouk van Amerongen presented initial, preliminary findings from the ongoing research project “Preferences and Willingness to Pay for Ambulatory Care in Tyrol, Austria.” The project is being conducted in collaboration with Ayman Fouda and Lukas Kerschbaumer from the CSHI, as well as Sander Boxebeld from the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) at Erasmus University Rotterdam. The presentation in Rotterdam provided an important opportunity to gather early feedback from the professional community and to further refine our own ideas as the project progresses.
Work on the study will continue in the coming months – new insights and findings will be shared with interested parties on an ongoing basis.
