Strengthening educational and vocational counseling in Ethiopia

The Department of Social Work is pleased to announce the launch of the Education and Vocation Counseling Training (EVCT) project. In cooperation with the Kotebe University of Education (KUE) and the Technical and Vocational Training Institute (TVET) in Ethiopia, the project aims to improve career and educational counseling at Ethiopian universities in a practical way.

The core objectives are the development of a certified curriculum for career advisors, the creation of an online toolbox for career guidance and a pilot training program at the universities. In addition, job profiles for graduates will be created to enable a better match between education and the job market.

The EVCT project supports sustainable development through better quality education (SDG 4), poverty reduction through improved employment opportunities (SDG 1), economic growth (SDG 8) and gender equality (5). The project is funded by the “Austrian Partnership Programme in Higher Education and Research for Development” - APPEAR. APPEAR is a program of the Austrian Development Cooperation and is implemented by the OeAD.
