Pioneering Youth Work

"Diversity" Department established by the Bezirksjugendring Oberbayern

The Bezirksjugendring Oberbayern has integrated the "Diversity" department into its structure in 2023, setting new standards in youth work. This department encompasses three key areas: "Diversity and Political Education," "JAM – Youth Work in a Migrant Society," and "Inclusive Youth Work." With this new structure, the Bezirksjugendring Oberbayern takes on a pioneering role in Bavaria, as comparable structures do not yet exist at the level of district youth councils.

To accompany the implementation of the "Diversity" department scientifically, a comprehensive study is being conducted by the MCI Department of Social Work. The goal of this research is to determine to what extent the department's offerings are utilized by both system partners and young people, as well as to assess the effectiveness of the approaches. Based on the findings, evidence-based recommendations for the further development and improvement of the department's offerings will be proposed.

With this project, the Bezirksjugendring Oberbayern is making a strong commitment to future-oriented youth work that meets the needs of a diverse society. The scientific monitoring of the implementation ensures that the developed programs are effective and sustainable, allowing the district to successfully address the challenges of open youth work in Upper Bavaria.
