Department of Social Work with board function in the ogsa

Moritz Reisberger elected to the board of the Austrian Society of Social Work (ogsa)

The General Assembly of the Austrian Society of Social Work (ogsa) recently took place in Vienna. Moritz Reisberger, teaching & research assistant at the MCI Department of Social Work, was elected to the board of the professional association.

The Department of Social Work is very pleased to be represented by Moritz Reisberger on the ogsa board for the coming term of office from 2024 - 2026 and thus to be active once again in the most important professional community of Social Work in Austria.

The ogsa is the central scientific community for Social Work in Austria. It was founded in 2012 with the help of our former university lecturer Andrea Trenkwalder-Egger and has since been active in a wide range of working groups, conferences and publications aimed at further developing the theory, research and teaching of Social Work in Austria. For example, the professional association - together with the obds (Austrian Professional Association of Social Work) - played a leading role in the development of the recently passed Social Work Designation Act 2024 (SozBezG 2024).

By organizing conferences and symposia, the association frames recurring annual forums for discussions between academia and practice. Since 2019, the ogsa has also intensified its collaboration with its sister societies in Germany (DGSA) and Switzerland (SGSA) and other international specialist communities.

Moritz Reisberger is a teaching & research assistant at the Department of Social Work at MCI with a focus on research and teaching on contemporary developments in the profession and discipline of Social Work. He holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the Leopold-Franzens-University in Innsbruck and is a graduate of the master's program in Social Work, Social Policy & Management at MCI. He is currently working on a dissertation at the Doctoral Center for Social Work at HAW Hessen.
