Practical Training in Social Work

Date 2024-07-22

3rd International Conference on Practice Training at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland

Those responsible for practice-related training at universities of applied sciences for Social Work from Germany, Switzerland and Austria recently met in Basel and focused on the practical training of Social Work students. The transnational exchange makes it possible to (critically) examine the learning venues of the practice phase and university and to react to future challenges.

The theme of this year's exchange was “Potentials and innovations in practical training. Shaping the future of Social Work with professionals”.

Not only curricular considerations and further developments were examined, but also professional insights and suggestions were exchanged and own research findings and expertise were shared in several workshops.

Bastian Oechsle, teaching & research assistant at the Department of Social Work at MCI: “It became clear that the shortage of skilled workers is not a local phenomenon, but - regardless of resources in terms of training - is noticeable throughout the DACH region.”
