The Department of Social Work at MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® participated in an extraordinary format as part of the Children's Summer university 2025: An escape game on the topic of social justice, made available through cooperation with the Tyrolean Youth Red Cross, gave children and young people a playful introduction to key socio-political issues.
The Innsbruck Children's Summer University, an initiative of the Young University (University of Innsbruck), offers a diverse, free vacation program with academic content for children and young people aged 6 to 18 every year.
As part of the Children's Summer University, the Department of Social Work held the workshop “Escape Game – Mission Social Justice” for participants aged 10 to 16.
The aim was to bring social justice to life – in the form of an interactive learning experience in which children grapple with questions relating to rights and responsibilities. In line with the department's didactic approach, the format combined playful experience with socio-educational sensitivity: it encouraged participants to reflectively question social contexts and experience democratic action.
With this workshop, the Department of Social Work demonstrated how science communication can be designed in a participatory, creative, and interdisciplinary way. It shows how education-oriented Social Work reaches young target groups and provides them with lasting impetus for reflection, engagement, and social responsibility.
