FBKSSO conference in Linz: focus on exchange and future challenges

The departmental conference of Social Work programs in Austria (FBKSSO) recently took place in Linz. Representatives from all Austrian universities of applied sciences offering Social Work programs came together to discuss current developments, challenges, and future prospects in the professional and educational field.

Our MCI department of Social Work was represented by head of department Belachew Gebrewold. The exchange focused in particular on key topics such as the professional law for Social Work, competence-oriented examination formats in the age of artificial intelligence, and questions of knowledge and practice transfer.

“The FBKSSO is an essential body for jointly shaping the further development of Social Work in Austria,” emphasizes Belachew Gebrewold. “Especially in view of social transformation processes and technological dynamics, professional exchange between universities is crucial in order to prepare students as well as possible for the complex requirements of practice.”

The FBKSSO represents all Social Work degree programs at Austrian universities of applied sciences and serves as a platform for coordinating common standards in teaching, research, and professionalization. The meeting in Linz once again underscored the importance of dialogue between academia and practice in order to ensure the long-term quality and relevance of Social Work education.
