MCI contributes to the Academic Journal for Social Work

Dual representation of the department of Social Work in the academic journal “soziales_kapital,” thereby actively shaping the academic discourse in Social Work

In the recent board election for “soziales_kapital,” the academic online journal of Austrian universities of applied sciences’ Social Work programs, Christina Lienhart, professor at the MCI department of Social Work, was elected to the board for a second term. Also new to the board is Laura Feith González, teaching & research assistant at the MCI department of Social Work. As a result, MCI will now be represented by two members on the journal’s board.

Laura Feith González plays a special role in this regard due to her dual position: Together with a colleague from another Austrian university of applied sciences, she serves both as a member of the board and as a campus editor. In this role, she acts as a key liaison between the board and the individual campus editorial teams, thereby contributing to the journal’s networking and further development.

Laura Feith González and Christina Lienhart:

“We’re both thrilled to have the opportunity to continue shaping the journal - and, by extension, the academic landscape of Social Work in Austria - step by step! The journal offers a fantastic opportunity for accessible publishing - not only for academics and researchers submitting research papers, but also for students looking to gain their first publishing experience, as well as for Social Workers in the field. This allows us to share experiences, further develop the profession, give a voice to problems and injustices as well as to successful practices and innovations, and raise the profile of Social Work across its various fields of practice. That’s what makes it special.”

For the MCI department of Social Work, having two representatives on the board is a valuable opportunity to actively shape professional networking and academic exchange at the national level. At the same time, it strengthens the connection between research, teaching, and practice and raises the profile of the academic work and perspectives of the department, its students, alumni, and staff. We congratulate Christina Lienhart and Laura Feith González on their election to the editorial board and are delighted that they will be actively contributing to the further development of the journal and, by extension, to the academic discourse on Social Work in Austria!
