The annual conference of the Mechatronics Platform traditionally honors the best theses from Austrian universities of applied sciences in mechatronics – at both the bachelor's and master's levels.
This year also marked the 20th anniversary of the Mechatronics Platform Austria. Since its foundation, the platform has been networking universities, research institutions, and companies, thereby making a significant contribution to the further development of Austria as a mechatronics location.
The fact that two MCI students were able to impress in the anniversary competition fills us with particular pride and underlines the high quality of our mechatronics education and research.
In his bachelor's thesis, Josef Obwaller focused on the development of a variable capacitor that is used for track tuning in inductive energy transfer systems. Whereas such systems could previously only be readjusted manually, his prototype enables fully automatic adjustment during operation. This significantly increases the reliability of industrial plants.
Simon Stangassinger devoted his master's thesis to the simulation of the spray cooling process in the extrusion of aluminum profiles. Using a numerical model, he was able to show that temperature curves can already be predicted very accurately – an important step toward controlling the industrial cooling process more precisely in the future and avoiding deformation.
With these outstanding projects, our students are making an important contribution to the further development of modern mechatronic applications. We congratulate them warmly on these great successes!
