I am currently spending a semester abroad at the University of Southeast Norway (USN) in Porsgrunn, Norway.
In a country rich in hydropower and electric cars, the modern, Scandinavian-style USN campus is located in the southeast.
The university offers various engineering programs, and as an exchange student in the Process, Energy, and Environmental Technology program, you can freely choose from a variety of courses.
Among other things, there are also relevant lectures on renewable energy, project management, and cost management, which make for a varied curriculum.
The program is very flexible, so there’s plenty of time for other activities.
At the start of the semester in August, we were still able to enjoy warm, sunny summer days, and now winter is already on its way, bringing cooler temperatures.
I drove here with my car, so we usually use our extra free time for road trips with camping adventures and don’t let the sometimes-rainy weather deter us.
In addition to the impressive natural scenery with the glaciers and the sea, we enjoy a sauna session every now and then afterward.
The first snow has already hit the ground here, and we’ll probably see more of winter next week on our trip to the Lofoten Islands.
Thanks to Erasmus for this opportunity and for these unique experiences and interactions with (European) exchange students.
