From May 4 to 8, 2026, students of the European Health Economics & Management (Eu-HEM) master’s program met at the Inter-University Center in Dubrovnik for the Eu-HEM Career Event. The aim of the week was to prepare the transition from studies to professional practice – with hands-on coaching and ample opportunities for networking.
The Eu-HEM master’s qualifies graduates for roles in the international health sector: after a joint first semester at the University of Bologna, students pursue specializations at partner universities in Rotterdam, Oslo, and MCI | The Entrepreneurial School. The fourth-semester Career Event brought the cohort back together and connected them with employers from the sector.
Guided by career advisors from Oslo and Rotterdam, the coaching focused on personal and professional positioning. Students reflected on strengths, values, and competencies, sharpened their professional identity, developed a compelling professional story, and practiced targeted networking. Another focus was interview and case preparation; groups presented their solutions to attending stakeholders, including Eu-HEM alumni. Open “Career Labs” throughout the week provided space for individual questions and feedback.
Alongside the content sessions, there were many opportunities for exchange and joint activities. For many, reconnecting with peers and faculty from all Eu-HEM partner universities was an extra boost of motivation. The outcome: new contacts, concrete feedback, and a clearer understanding of career paths in international health economics and management. Participants returned home with fresh ideas, a stronger network, and clear next steps for entering the job market.
