Insights into the MCI Mentoring Program

MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® offers a Mentoring Program that connects MCI alumni with students who seek orientation and guidance for their professional career path. The program focuses on a long-term, trusting exchange in which mentors share their personal and professional experiences with mentees and promote new insights through guided reflection. The program was initiated by the Department of Nonprofit, Social & Health Care Management and has been successfully implemented for over 15 years.

Ilse Suurmeijer (students Eu-HEM) and Merlijn van de Riet (alumna) are an example of successful mentoring and were asked to share their experience:

  • Mentee Ilse Suurmeijer: "I would like to thank both MCI and my mentor for this opportunity. The mentoring relationship was one of the most valuable experience during my studies at MCI. The conversations helped me gain clarity about my career path and increased my confidence in making important decisions about my future.”
  • Mentorin Merlijn van de Riet: "Each year, you get the opportunity to meet someone new who is about to finish their master's programme and take the next step in their career. What I enjoy most is that every mentoring journey is different, and each mentee requires a different kind of support. This year, I learned that sometimes simply being a sounding board is enough. You may not always realize the impact you have, but being there to listen and offer perspective can make a real difference. Helping someone in that way is incredibly rewarding and gives me a lot of energy"

Further information on the mentoring program and the possibility to register as a mentor or mentee can be found here.
