LifeSense measures blood sugar without needles – simple, precise, innovative

The young start-up Healink, founded by our students Helin Hussein, Matthias Hansen, and Jannis Pohl, aims to revolutionize health monitoring and enable people worldwide to live pain-free and simpler lives. With their product LifeSense, an intelligent, non-invasive wearable that measures blood sugar levels using near-infrared light (NIR) through the skin, they are setting new standards in medical technology.

The idea behind Healink and LifeSense

The inspiration for Healink came from co-founder Helin, who is prediabetic and knows firsthand how uncomfortable and inconvenient traditional measurement methods can be. From this personal experience arose the desire to develop a solution that is pain-free, simple, and accessible to everyone. After numerous experiments and concepts, the idea of a reusable wearable emerged, capable of non-invasive measurements – completely without needles or blood.

The team has a clear vision: to create a product that is not only functional and aesthetically pleasing but also affordable for everyone. LifeSense is designed to help people live pain-free lives without the hassle of traditional health monitoring methods.

How does LifeSense work?

LifeSense is a state-of-the-art wearable that operates with two sensors: a calibration sensor and a measurement sensor placed directly on the skin. The technology uses near-infrared light to capture optical signals through the skin. These signals are then processed by a machine-learning algorithm, which accounts for individual and environmental factors to calculate blood sugar levels accurately. The results are displayed in real-time via an app that provides a clear overview of all vital data.

Current development status

The Healink team is currently in the advanced prototype and testing phase. The core technology is already functional, and the developers are working hard to further improve accuracy and miniaturization. In parallel, the app is being developed to display measurement data in real-time. Additionally, the patent process and preparations for medical validation are underway to bring LifeSense to market soon.

The Ludwig Erhard Summit

Participating in the renowned Ludwig Erhard Summit was a significant milestone for the start-up. Thanks to the support of Benjamin Suitner and the MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®, the team had the opportunity to attend this event. The summit provided a platform for engaging discussions, inspiring lectures, and exchanges on innovation, health, and entrepreneurship.

The start-up and its product LifeSense represent a new era in health monitoring – pain-free, accessible, and innovative. With their technology and dedication, they are on the path to significantly improving the quality of life for many people.
