Orientation Days 2025: The World Arrives at MCI

Date 2025-10-14

This year, the MCI campus feels bigger than ever. Around 140 full-degree students from across the globe are starting their studies in 2025/26. They represent more than 30 countries: from Africa (Ethiopia, South Africa, Nigeria), Asia (Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, Kazakhstan, Iran), the Americas (Mexico, Chile, Canada), and Europe (Turkey, Serbia, Albania), as well as the EU (Czech Republic, Spain, Croatia). In short: the world is gathering in Innsbruck to study.

The academic mix is just as diverse. Our English-language flagship bachelor’s programs Business & Management and Entrepreneurship, Tourism & Leisure Business remain highly popular. At master’s level, International Health & Social Management and International Business & Management are well represented. In the Life Sciences, programs such as Environmental, Process & Energy Engineering, Biotechnology, and Medical & Sports Technology are particularly sought after.

The journey began online on September 1, perfectly set up for all internationals starting their studies this fall: insights into Austrian culture, tips and tricks on life in Innsbruck, plus the essentials on visa, residence registration, and insurance. By the end of the month, the energy shifted onsite: on September 29 & 30, sessions focused on well-being when living abroad and facing the unforeseen (tips for life in a new country), move-in essentials and supporting your academic success, as well as getting to know Austria (country, famous personalities, and plenty of music).

The grand finale? A city-wide Treasure Hunt through Innsbruck powered by our Actionbound license, plus a brand-new highlight: the Plan your Career Q&A session, where current international students and alumni openly shared their “oops and offers” from their studies and careers.

The takeaway: diversity, energy, and a shared beginning that sparks excitement for a truly inspiring academic year in Innsbruck. Welcome to MCI!

A warm thank-you goes to all those who supported our newcomers on this path: ÖH MCI, ESN Innsbruck, the IRO team with Leena Kasbekar, Kim Fladda, and Martina Schwab, our librarian Susanne Kirchmair, the Student Support & Career Center with Janine Prokesch, alumni and project staff Yiqiao Wang and Benedicta Apuamah, as well as our current international students Olga Kricsfalusi and Mădălina Condrea.
