What was your motiviaton to become a buddy?
I grew up in Tyrol, so Innsbruck and the surrounding area have always been familiar to me. I wanted to become a Buddy because I enjoy sharing my home region with new people and helping international students feel more comfortable here. Even though the place is “normal” for me, I know it can feel overwhelming and exciting at the same time to be new in Innsbruck.
Which activities or spots do you share first?
I usually start with the basics like the university area and the city center so they can get oriented quickly. Then I like showing them the Old Town, the Inn promenade, and spots with a good view like the Hungerburg or Nordkette area. Depending on their interests, I also suggest easy hikes or relaxed outdoor activities, since that’s a big part of life in Tyrol.
What do you like most about being a Buddy?
I enjoy showing people the region through fresh eyes. It’s interesting to see what international students find special here. I also like the cultural exchange and the conversations that come up naturally when people from different backgrounds meet.
