This year, MCI welcomed more than 450 students from 45 countries to Innsbruck. While most came to spend a semester abroad, 42% enrolled in a full degree program at MCI:
But what can students expect after arriving in Innsbruck? The Welcome Days 2026 offered the perfect opportunity to get to know MCI, explore the city, and connect with fellow students. Here's a look back at the highlights!
While students from selected study programs arrived as early as September, most joined MCI in October. The Welcome Days kicked off with a series of informative sessions introducing students to essential university services and resources. These included an overview of MCI's academic standards, the MCI Library, the Student and Career Center, the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH), and much more.
What better way to discover MCI's six campuses across Innsbruck than by taking part in an interactive treasure hunt? Students also had the opportunity to join a guided city tour and enjoy a welcome dinner organized by MCI. Last but not least, they explored the Alpenzoo on a guided tour. The zoo is dedicated to Alpine wildlife and places a special focus on species conservation.
For students pursuing a full degree at MCI, the program offered an even more comprehensive introduction to university life. In addition to the general Welcome Days activities, dedicated sessions covered topics such as well-being while living abroad, essential information for moving in, preparing for academic studies, and settling into life in Innsbruck.
From getting to know MCI and its services to exploring the city and meeting new people, the Welcome Days helped students settle into life in Innsbruck and get ready for their adventure abroad. We wish all our new students an exciting and successful time at MCI!
