A look into the seminar room at the MCI’s part-time program in Business & Management shows: this is where theory and practice meet motivation, joy of learning, and determination.
At the table sits Laura, who has just completed her Matura. “It’s finally happening!” she says. “I want to gain insights into different industries and find out what really suits me.”
Next to her, Elias is actively contributing to the discussion. After completing an apprenticeship and gaining several years of professional experience, he is now taking advantage of the permeability of the Austrian education system to pursue a degree. “I only realized later how much I enjoy learning – now I want to make the most of this opportunity.”
Hannes has been working at an industrial company for several years. His supervisor has been preparing him for a future leadership role – and for that, he needs solid business administration know-how. “I want to understand how a company functions as a whole and take away practical input for my leadership responsibilities.”
Stefanie already carries a great deal of responsibility in her company. She wants to take the next step toward management. “Learning from the best,” she says, “and combining my technical expertise with management skills – that’s my goal.”
Among them, Philipp, a founder with a vision, shares his perspective. “I want my start-up to truly make a difference – sustainability and innovation are at the core. With the Business & Management degree, I gain the skills to implement this successfully from an economic perspective as well.”
By the window sits Katharina, who will one day take over her mother’s family business. “I want to learn how to manage a company like ours in a modern way, and how to best prepare myself for my future role as managing director.”
And then there is Simon, thinking out loud about his future: “I want to find my dream job, but also grow as a person and get to know my strengths better. This program is the perfect step for that.”
With one third of the program delivered online and the resulting flexibility, the degree fits perfectly into professional and everyday life. On-campus seminars enable direct exchange, discussions, and teamwork – moments where practical knowledge meets academic theory. After a solid foundation in general management, students can also choose individual areas of specialization to advance their careers in a targeted way.
United by their enthusiasm for Business & Management, students bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives: career starters like Laura and Elias approach topics with fresh eyes; experienced professionals like Hannes and Stefanie share real-world insights; founders like Philipp test concepts live; and successors like Katharina apply what they learn directly in their own companies. Lecturers act as coaches, support projects, and create space for creative thinking.
The result: practice-oriented solutions that seamlessly connect with everyday professional life – regardless of gender, age, or background. For career changers like Simon, the program also offers new perspectives, self-reflection, and valuable impulses for personal development.
The part-time program brings together different stages of life and career paths, industries, and cultures. This diversity fosters intensive discussions, interdisciplinary projects, and open exchange that has an impact far beyond the seminar room.
